These are wonderful shoes: comfortable, great looking, good for all sorts of occasions. Unfortunately, they are very difficult to get on and off, and they wear out VERY quickly. I walk about 15-30 minutes a day, and I wear these boots maybe 3-5 times a week...and after three months, the heel is nearly gone. The toe tips have nearly been worn through as well, and one shoe even has the sole peeling away! I emailed American Duchess about the problem, and they told me I need to have a covbler make alterations to the shoe ($$$) or I need to buy more shoe care products ($$$)...or else, I guess, I just walk wrong? Anyways, LOVE these shoes, but buyer beware: they are some of the most fragile I've ever owned.

OK. These boots are fabulous! They are soft and supple leather and they look amazingly comfortable. I bought them for my upcoming production of Patience in which I am playing Lady Jane. That being said, I think that they are going to become my favorite American Duchess boots ever. The only issue is that I have to unlace them to get them on my feet. I am concerned that without structured eyes for the laces, that the tops of the laces will wear out and come off, making it very difficult to lace them. Also, as a larger woman, it is a challenge to lace them up by myself... but, that's a big belly issue and not a manufacturing issue. The shoes are true to size - even with my thick wool socks. I would order the size that you normally wear. Since they lace up, I don't have an issue with the ankle not being wide enough. I will send photos of Lady Jane when the show opens!

Wow. Regency boots! Where else can one find these except here. So glad these are available. Please keep making them so I can keep buying them. Maybe a black one too? Anyway, so comfortable and lasted through rain and lots of walking at the Jane Austen Festival in Bath. Actually, they still look brand new even after all that.

I've been enjoying my Hartfords this fall. I wear them with jeans mostly. Such a nice change from all the other boots out there! So comfortable! The extra length of the toe takes a bit of getting used to, so as not to scuff them. Looking forward to wearing them for a long time yet to come!!!
